Calin Calin Calin!!

So lately pretty much all I do is enjoy our little boy!  I am amazed at how much he is growing and how fast he is learning new things!  Everyday it seems like he makes more and more progress.  Here are some pictures and things about Calin lately!

I am 3 months old!!  :)

Really Mom?  Another one? You have already taken like 100 pictures!

Fine.  But I am not smiling.

Calin is still wearing 0-3 months or 3 months clothes.  Some of them are getting snug, but most still fit.  3-6 months clothes are still a little big!
He has a pretty good routine and most of the time is a very happy baby!  He eats about every 3 hours (sometimes stretches to 3 1/2-4).  We have started increasing the formula that we supplement with breast feeding.  He is a growing boy!!
He usually goes to bed around 8:30 or 9, sleeps for half hour to an hour and then wakes up to eat.  Most of the time he goes right back to sleep and sleeps until 3:30 or 4.  He wakes up to eat and then goes back to sleep until about 7 or 7:30.  We had 3 nights in a row where he slept through the 4:00 feeding.  It was glorious!! If only it had lasted!! :(  Night time he has been pretty fussy lately.  It's pretty funny, he will be ok until we go in and lay him down to put him in his pajamas.  Then he starts fussing...he knows and doesn't want to go to bed!  He is usually easily calmed down by me or Robby, but occasionally will only calm down with me.
The past few weeks Calin has been doing new things every day!  His head and neck are getting so strong!  He holds it up most of the time we are holding him on our shoulder.  If he is propped up, but still laying back, like on a pillow, he strains and tries to sit-up.  It is pretty funny!  He also is doing pretty good holding his head up on his tummy.  It has taken him a while to consistently hold his big round head up so I get really excited when he keeps it up for long streches of time.  He does it pretty good in the morning, but at night has a harder time and usually ends up face down grunting and groaning and tired of lifting his head! His chubby little belly sometimes gets in the way too.  He will hold his arms and legs up off the floor and then just kind of rocks on his belly.  It is pretty funny!

He rolls!  Just this week on Monday morning, I was trying to get a picture of him holding his head up cause he was looking up at me really well and away he went.  He did it twice!!  I only had my stupid phone though so no video and the pictures are blurry. :( He actually had done this about a week ago too, so this was technically not his first roll.  Yesterday morning and this morning he was trying so hard to push himself over again, but just couldn't quite get situated to make it work.

Going...

Going...
Gone!!
(Yes I do dress my child, this was his "free" time after his bath.)

Calin is also starting to grab things really well.  He holds onto little toys, his burp cloths,  pulls on my hair and Robby's arm hair.  He is just getting really good at using those hands and eyes together!
He likes to play a lot with Robby!  They enjoy reading "A Pirate's Guide to First Grade", "Pete the Cat", and "Bedtime at the Swamp".  They try to hide that they "jump" (little bounces) on the bed from me.  He giggles pretty good doing that.  He still loves to bounce on our knees too.  He is also starting to giggle at other little things occasionally too.  It is really cute! I love his little laugh. A lot of the time it comes out more of a squeal.

Calin laughing and playing with Dad!

They also like to dress alike!  I sure do love my two cute boys!!

Nap time has been hard lately.  He usually needs to be rocked to sleep.  I really want to let him cry it out, but he usually only cries really hard when he is uncomfortable (he has lots of gas).  So, I give into him and end up rocking him.  If it were not for feeling completely unproductive I would not worry about rocking him.  But sometimes it feels like all Calin and I get done is eating and rocking! :) Oh well!

He is sometimes so serious!  He gets this real serious face and kicks his legs, "puts up his dukes", or just lays there staring at you all serious.  It is pretty funny.  This was outside on a rainy day under our carport enjoying the cooler weather.

He loves to visit and play with all of Robby's family that live here!  He also loves to see his family that lives far away too!  Thank goodness for skype!!

Getting some skype time in with Grandma Mielke!

I just love that I get to be home with him all day and enjoy seeing him grow and develop!  We look forward to the afternoon too when Robby is home with us!  He is such a wonderful part of our family!!
I love my job!!

Pure Joy!

Lately Calin has loved riding on our knees and bouncing (he is getting so good at holding his head up!). Two days ago Robby started singing this song with the riding and Calin let out this cute little giggle. We tried getting it on video but were not successful until today and I could not resist sharing this!

We sure do love our happy little boy!

(note: despite the unfortunate end to this video, he was still smiling!)

End of Summer??

Recently I feel like I have seen a lot of posts on facebook about "the end of summer". I'm not really sure how it can be the end of summer when it is still 105 degrees outside and I don't have to go back to school!! The 105 degrees I could do without, but not having to go back to work is fantastic!

Here are a few of the things we have been doing over the past few weeks to celebrate "the end of summer".

The Saturday of Labor Day Weekend we went up to Baker Reservoir with Hollie (Robby's Sister), Jimmy, Gracie, and Preston. I spent most of the time shielding Calin from the sun or wind and then feeding him. Hollie was nice and sat and visited with me while I fed Calin. Robby, Jimmy, Gracie and Preston were fishing (attempting anyways-the wind kept blowing their lines right back to them) and playing.

After everyone had had their fill of fishing we went over to a little creek that runs off of the reservoir down in this little shaded meadow area. It was really pretty and nice and cool as well (a welcomed break from the St. George heat!). Calin enjoyed playing on the blanket with a break from the wind and sun! We also got some pretty pictures there too!

I love it when he looks right at the camera with those bright blue eyes!

He has discovered his tongue in the last week and also has gotten quite good at blowing lots of bubbles!

My two blue eyed boys!

I sure do love this little boy!

Calin has really been loving Dad lately! He gets so excited to see, hear, and play with Dad! It is really cute!

Our little family!

The Salley family! We really enjoy hanging out with them! Thanks for inviting us!

My mom came into town on Labor Day to spend the week with us. It has been so nice to have her here so much this summer! On Tuesday we canned peaches. It was my first time canning. Thanks mom and grandma for providing the peaches, helping, and showing me how! Robby went to work.

On Wednesday my mom came over and watched Calin while I was on a bike ride. She also did a bunch of deep cleaning for me! She is awesome to clean on her vacation! Robby went to work again.
Then we hung out and ate dinner over at my grandma's.

Thursday my mom stayed inside and cleaned the bathroom while Calin slept and I went out to do some much needed weeding. We have these crazy weeds that grow like 5 ft. in a few days. I'm not kidding when I say they were taller than me! That afternoon we went to a fun toy store and Christensen's to look for some new clothes for Calin since he is growing so much. Robby went to work again. :(

Thanks to a last minute Tuacahn discount and my mom being here to watch Calin, Robby and I were able to go see Aladdin that night. It was my second long night away from Calin. I was mostly able to enjoy the night away. I am a worrier and worry about everything anyways, so I did worry. Not because I didn't think he would be just fine or that he wasn't in good hands (my mom is the best!), but just worried being away. Especially since lately night time has been his fussy time and he has a hard time calming down to go to sleep. But, he did just fine and we really enjoyed Aladdin! Tuacahn does an awesome job and it is such a fun theater to go to! Glad they had a last minute deal in the newspaper!

Friday Robby had to work in the morning, (he usually has Fridays off) so my mom and I went shopping again. Then that afternoon we went to the pool! The water was pretty cold but still a nice relief from the heat! Calin enjoyed another swim in the pool! It is fun to get him in! I can't wait until he is a little bigger and can enjoy it for longer!

Warming up after his dip in the pool!

Enjoying hanging out with Grandma...she let's him "be free"! Yea no diaper! :)

That evening we hung out at my grandma's again and had delicious hamburgers, fruit, and gingerbread and peaches for dessert.
Grandma burping Calin while he shows off is ability to hold his head up better!

Hanging out with Grandma and Great Grandma!

It was such a wonderful week full of fun with my mom and grandma! I am so lucky to have such an awesome mom who has sacrificed most of her summer to be here with us! I'm glad she has had a chance to be around Calin and sad that we won't see her for a while! Thanks mom for everything! We sure do miss having her around!

It has been a great "end of summer"!!
