Calin is 6 months!

Calin's Stats:
Weight: 17.61 lbs. (52%)
Height: 27.17 in.  (76%)
Head: 16.5 in. (10%)

Calin is a very happy boy and lots of fun!  He definitely keeps us entertained all the time!  He is "talking" all the time!  We think he says "hi" to us sometimes or at least makes a noise to acknowledge that we just came in. ;)  Robby thinks he says "dada" sometimes.  That is definitely the sound that comes out, but I'm pretty sure he is not connecting it. ;) He makes lots of funny noises too and has started playing with his tongue.  We still can't get him to stick it out though.
Calin has gotten really good at rolling and can roll both ways, front to back and back to front.  His left side is sometimes still a little more difficult for him, but he just keeps working until he gets there!  I often leave the living room with him in once place and then come back maybe very shortly after leaving and he is across the room!  This boy can move!

Calin is a little ball of energy.  His legs and hands never stop moving he is constantly kicking and wiggling.  Once he starts crawling and walking I'm done for! I will never be able to keep up with all his energy! Good thing Dad will be around to help with that!

Calin still loves books; especially when he can get his hands on them!

Calin's sleeping habits are not super.  However, they are not horrible either.  He takes ok naps.  They are usually only about 30-40 minutes long though.  If I catch him right after he wakes up from his afternoon nap I can usually get him to go back to sleep for about another hour. It doesn't always work though.  Nights are hit and miss.  Sometimes he sleeps through the night, sometimes he is up once, sometimes twice, sometimes three times.  I wish I could figure out why it's all over the place.  I try to repeat everything we did on the nights he sleeps through, but it doesn't seem to help with the repeat.  Hopefully one day he will get it!

Calin gets better and better at sitting up by himself.  He stills doesn't have it completely and can usually only hold if for a little while, but he is getting there!

He wants to crawl so badly!  He has found other ways to kind of scoot himself forward though. He will roll front to back and then back to front over and over and moves forward doing this.  He will also bury his head down in the ground and the push with his feet and knees to scoot forward.  He tries to get his knees up under him but can't quite get it. It's coming soon though!

I took this picture:
And then my phone vibrated and Calin dove...

...yes! I got it!  (Uncle Josef would be proud...maybe a future goalie?)
And now I think I'll eat it!
Oh I'm sorry, were you trying to take a picture of me?

Dad LOVES to play with Calin! It is a mutual love though!  Calin loves it just as much as Dad does!  Dad is working on training him to do a high five and it is getting better and better!   Robby does have Calin trained to make noise when he puts his finger in between his lips and goes up and down.  Calin will also make noise when Robby bounces his belly to make a ah ah ah ah ah noise.

We love his little "huh huh" laugh that he does.  He will often entertain himself and make himself laugh like this.  It is quite hilarious!

He loves to play games and is very smart!  I love in this video how he rolls, looks at Robby, and waits for Robby's reaction.  He is just too funny!

Calin is sometimes afraid of the blow dryer.  If I turn it on and he can't see my face reassuring him it's ok he starts crying.  Silly little boy!

The only food so far that Calin is not fond of is bananas.  He will eat them when we mix it with his rice cereal, but he still makes some pretty good faces!

We just barely moved him up to size 3 diapers and he is well into his 6 month and 6-9 month clothes but still has a few 3-6 month clothes that fit.  Crazy how big he is getting!

We love our little boy and the cute little personality that is starting to show! I am so excited to see the boy he becomes!  He sure is a character!

December Happenings

We got our tree up and decorated and also got the house decorations up too!  Calin loved watching us pull out all the shiny red and white balls and really wants to play with those!  Otherwise he has not been too interested in the tree.

Robby's schedule at work this year has made it so that he has a long lunch time on Wednesdays.  We have been able to go and visit him on a lot of these Wednesdays and take him lunch!  It is a nice excuse to get out of the house and fun for Calin to see Dad a little more.   As you can tell in these pictures, he LOVES to see Dad!!

We have enjoyed lots of nights sitting under the tree.  This is also where we have been listening to "Cinnamon Bear", an old radio program with 26 short episodes that Robby's family has always listened to every Christmas.  They listen to one episode a night up until Christmas.  I think this may be the first year I make it all the way through!

Up until this last Friday the weather in St. George has been beautiful!!  We have enjoyed clear skies and nice mild weather days.  It has been cold at nights and in the mornings, but really nice weather during the day! However, Friday seemed to bring the rainy cold winter...:( Goodbye to fall...in December!! With that nice weather we have tried to spend time outside.  Robby took Calin out to "shoot some hoops" one Friday afternoon.  He sure is getting this boy started early!

Last week we had Robby's family over to make gingerbread houses.  Yes we did pull out the glue gun this year. It did make some things easier!
 Everyone working on their houses.

The Salley family and their finished products! Looking good guys!

Grandpa Comeford and his finished house.

The McDonald family and their masterpieces!

Robby's castle masterpiece.
And you can sort of see my pathetic little house in the corner.  Calin was pretty fussy that night so I didn't get much accomplished.

We went to our ward Christmas breakfast and visit from Santa.  We missed Santa though. :(  (Calin fell asleep in the line so we just went home). We went to Robby's work Christmas party and enjoyed some Christmas guessing and trivia games.  They also played a "name that TV show theme song" game.  I didn't know any of them except for Cheers and Bewitched.  Most of them were old shows.  I felt really young.  We went up to Cedar last night to go to the annual Sorensen (Robby's mom's side) family Christmas party.  It was a fun evening of food and white elephant gifts.  Everyone gets really into the gifts and there were lots of funny presents! Mostly it has just been the usual December craziness of shopping, gifting, and partying!  It has been a great month so far!

Friends and Christmas Tree Hunting

Last week I was able to visit with a friend of mine and her little boy Jett.  I know Jen through her mom who taught 1st grade with me.  I am also really good friends with her mom Mary and it was so fun to visit with both of them!

It was fun to get the little boys together, but probably more fun for us to visit.  They are exactly one month apart.  Jett was born July 16th. Calin and Jett were not on the same schedule and so most of the afternoon they were taking turns napping, eating, being cranky, being happy, etc.  Right before I left we managed to catch a few pictures of both of them in a good mood!  It was so fun to see them and we look forward to more visits and play dates when they are down from Salt Lake!
Happy babies playing together!

Jett grabbed Calin's hand and they laid there like this for a while.  So cute! They are buds!

Jen also took some really cute pictures of Calin for me!  I am so excited with how they turned out!  THANKS JEN!! I am waiting to share them though until after Christmas! ;) Here's one she snapped of Calin and I.

On Saturday Robby, Calin and I went up to Pine Valley to hunt for a Christmas tree.  I had not planned the morning very well and so as soon as we got up there I had to feed Calin. Robby started the hunt though while Calin ate.  Then we all wandered around the mountain looking for a tree that was a good shape, big enough to not be a Charlie Brown tree, small enough that Robby could carry it back by himself, and something we both liked.  We found a couple of options but then decided on one that was close to a dirt road so Robby did not have to carry it too far.

We also enjoyed Robby's family tradition of hot chocolate and donuts after we found the tree.  Calin was a trooper as always!  He slept in the Baby Bjorn all wrapped up in blankets with Robby carrying him for most of the tree hunting.  Due to my lack of planning that morning, he was still in his pajamas.  However, I think that was a good thing cause it kept him warmer!  It was a fun Saturday outing and we are glad to have our tree up and decorated!  Yea for the Christmas season!

Thanksgiving, Tree Lighting, and a Sad Day

We had a great Thanksgiving.  It was so wonderful to see my family in town from Oregon and up north.  They all got here late Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.  We mostly just spent time hanging out and watching Calin.  He is the new family entertainment!

We spent Thanksgiving morning hanging out at Robby's parents and saw his family for a little while.  We then headed over to my grandma's house to eat Thanksgiving dinner with my family.  It was a wonderfully delicious turkey dinner!!  Calin did not have anything exciting for Thanksgiving dinner.  He just had some carrots.  Yum!

Hanging out at the Comeford's with his "I'm Stuffed" Thanksgiving outfit.

 What a cute turkey butt!!

Hanging out with cousins Gracie and Preston.

Gracie showing off her reading skills!

Spending some time outside on the warm Thanksgiving day with Grandpa Mielke!

Enjoying some time with Aunt Becca and Uncle Erich

Playing with Grandma Mielke while the rest of us watch "Brave".

We went to "Santa's Workshop" at the convention center.  It was pretty sad compared to years past, but Robby and I still managed to spend some money...We did get to see Santa though!  Yea for Calin's first visit with Santa!!

Spending some time with Grandma Mielke before saying goodbye.

Saying bye to Grandpa Mielke.  We were very sad to see them go!

The Monday after Thanksgiving we went up to Veteran's park here in Washington.  We went to see the big tree lit up (we missed the actually lighting) and to listen to the choir from the Elementary school I worked at sing.  We also had some yummy hot chocolate and donuts.  Yea for Christmas time! It's fun to get out and celebrate the season!

Robby and Calin looking at the lights.

Waiting in line for donuts and hot chocolate.  They were free! :)

Me and Calin enjoying the tree!

On Sunday (after Thanksgiving) I talked to my mom and dad when they got home from their long drive back to Oregon.  They had picked up our two little beagles Mia and Koby from the kennel.  They told me that Koby was not doing too well.  He had not eaten all day and was not able to go to the bathroom either.  They took him to the vet the next morning and found out he had some kidney problems.  They gave him an IV to rehydrate the poor dog.  However, it was not doing a lot of good since he still was not going to the bathroom.  Tuesday night my parents brought him home for his last night. :( We were all devastated.  They took Koby in to be put down Wednesday morning. We love our two little dogs and I was heartbroken I would not get to see him one last time.   We were able to skype on Tuesday night and say goodbye to Koby. Though he could not really see or hear us talking. :(  Poor Calin will miss out on playing with Koby.  It was a very sad couple of days for our family. We sure will miss him!

The other sad part about this is that Koby has left his sister behind.  They have been together since birth and she is now alone.  Mia had a rough couple of nights (my poor parents!)  but seems to slowly be doing better.  She was able to go to the vet to see Koby and hopefully understand that he was gone.  How sad for our poor little Mia.  It is so sad to see Koby leave us.  My sister told me "all dogs go to heaven".  I sure hope that she and the movie are true!! :) We will miss you Koby!!

Rollin...Rollin...Rollin on the Carpet!

Oh dear...I have got to step up my child proofing!!
(This was all in one sitting, but the i-pad wouldn't let me load it as one video.)

 Rollin Part 1

Rollin Part 2
