Clara is 4 Months!

Clara is 4 Months Old!!

Sweet little Clara is 4 months!! She is quite fun and we love to have her around!  This age had been lots of fun to watch her learn and grow and start to figure out the world around her!  She is very go with the flow which is good because of the older brother she has!

-She has been pretty funny about tummy time and lifting her head up.  She is finally starting to lay on her stomach without crying but she still does not last long.  She will hold herself up on her arms and look around and watch for a while and sometimes grab toys, but once she gets tired she still face plants herself down and squirms and whines until someone comes to help her.  She has got to learn to roll the other way!

-Robby and I have really wanted to our sweet little girl laugh.  We were able to get little giggles out every once in a while, but not any big laughs.  On July 12th Calin was running around in the basement with his birthday balloon and she just started giggling.  It was the best sound!  We love our two little crazies!

-She is into the grabbing stage.  She grabs anything she can find or get her hands onto; her binky, her toes, peoples hair, blankets, shirts, toys around her in her reach.  She's just grabby!

Everything is starting to go right to her mouth...I dislike this...gotta watch everything and start vacuuming every day! ;) 

-She started rolling around 3 months both ways, but has not really continued with the front to back.  She has gotten pretty good at rolling back to front (to her left side, never her right) but can't get herself back over.  Hopefully she'll figure that out again soon!

-She likes to look in the mirror at herself and whoever is holding her.  She especially loves to play a little mirror game with Robby where they pop in front of the mirror and Robby smiles and she will give a little giggle when she sees him in the mirror.

-Robby can often get her settled down if she is fussy by taking her binky and moving it around in the air above her with sound effects.  She will watch it go around above her and then Robby will put it in and pop it out and she likes that game a lot!

-She has gotten much more tolerant of laying on the ground and "playing".  She does really well when Calin is around to watch and run around her.

This is the face she makes right after she smiles. I love it! 

-Her position of choice is to be held facing out so she can see everything around her. She also likes to walk around and be bounced.  She is not a snuggler and will only tolerate me holding her facing me if she is up above my shoulder so she can still see around.

-She likes to sit in the Bumbo chair and watch Calin play and run circles around her.

-She sometimes puts herself to sleep, but more often lately she seems to get a little too tired and overstimulated and occasionally needs a little help from mom or her binky to suck and rock/do the Clara dance (hold her and bounce and walk around the room) or just lay down next to her on the bed and hold her hands still (she wiggles and keeps herself awake) and she'll fall asleep.

 

-She is still wearing most of her 0-3 month clothes, but I have started putting her mostly in her 3-6 months clothes (they fit but are pretty loose) to add some variety!

-She eats about every 3-4 hours.   At night she eats around 9 or 10 and then usually takes an hour to settle down again after that and fall asleep for the night.

-She is usually down for the night around 10 or 11.  Most nights she'll sleep until about 5 or 6, wakes up to eat, then goes back to sleep for another 2-3 hours.

-She still just LOVES Calin and he can make her giggle, smile, calm down whenever he is around.  It has started to get difficult to feed her with him around cause she wants to know what he is doing and turns to watch him.

-She can move herself around quite well using her feet and a little roll.  She can often do a 180 while laying on her back.  

-She is liking books more and more.  She especially likes to sit on your lap and read and look at the pictures.  Her favorites seem to be our colors book and animals book for babies with lots of bright and colorful pictures.  

-She likes it when there is music playing or someone is singing.  She especially likes it if someone is singing to her and dancing with her hands and feet.  She also loves to hear when Calin is singing!  

-Most of the time she does not fuss very much, but when she does she is easily calmed down by picking her up, facing her out, and then bouncing or walking around.  Most of the time though, she is very go with the flow and easy to please! 

 We sure do love Clara and are so glad to have her in our family!!
