Josef and Summer Wedding

At the end of April, on April 25th we headed on our first airplane adventure with kids!! We were headed to California for Josef's wedding.  This was pretty nerve racking for Robby and I since now we had two kids and and never flown with one!  I always go into things expecting the worst though so, it was actually not that bad.

Friday morning we headed to the St. George Airport (thankfully we got a great deal and were able to fly out of St. George which made our first flight much easier)!  We met up with my grandma there to fly with her.  Calin was excited to have his first trip on the plane.  We were anxious and nervous!  Checking in and going through security was pretty easy since St. George is such a small airport!   Because of the oxygen masks, Robby and I could not sit next to each other, but my grandma traded me seats so we were just in front and behind of each other.  My flight was pretty relaxing.  Clara finished eating and then she slept.  Robby had a little bit more to do keeping Calin entertained until we got to Salt Lake, but he did great and Calin did well eating snacks and reading books with Robby!

Not even on the plane for a minute and he was already going for the buttons!

Once we landed in Salt Lake we met up with Becca, Erich, and Allie.  They met us at our gate to help my grandma and us get to our next flight to go to Sacramento.  It was nice to have the extra hands and entertainment for Calin.  We got to our next gate in time to go to the bathroom, change diapers, grab a donut and water, and then load the plane.  Clara had a big poop right before we got on, so we were pretty much the last people on the plane after we stepped out of line to do a quick diaper change for her.

Calin was a little harder on this flight, but Robby did great again and kept him mostly quiet and entertained for the flight.  They enjoyed reading books (his little Baby Bug and Highlights books worked great for our flight), coloring, and eating more snacks.  Clara did great again!  She ate and slept the whole flight again!

Once we landed in Sacramento, my parents were there to help us and my grandma get our rental cars and get to the hotel.   It was great to have them there because we sent the stroller with them so we didn't have to haul that on the shuttle to get our rental car.

On the shuttle to the rental cars!

After getting our rental cars and a car seat for Calin (we just brought Clara's with us), we drove to have some much needed lunch and then to the hotel.  Calin had a much needed nap on the way to hotel which was short, but I guess good that he got one at all! :)  My mom was awesome and since they drove to California they had brought books and toys to entertain Calin at the hotel.  This was also very helpful since it was rainy on Friday when we got there and so he had some stuff to do while we were inside.  He enjoyed playing with the duplos, cars, airplanes, and trains.  He also enjoyed having lots of people there to play with him!  After playing with toys, Calin also enjoyed a nice dip in the pool with Grandma!  (I couldn't get in since I was still not past my six weeks after birth so Grandma was nice to swim with him!)  Thanks Grandma!

That night we had a "rehearsal" dinner at Fat's Asia Bistro with Josef and Summer's family and friends.  It was delicious!  It was a family style dinner so they brought out bowls of lots of different dishes that were all SO good!  Calin was pretty much done by dinner time though, so Robby and I spent a lot of dinner trying to get him to stay sitting and eat.  We then took turns walking him around the restaurant to see "that big scary guy" (a big Buddha statue by a fountain in the middle of the restaurant).   Clara again did great and slept through most of dinner (she slept through a lot of the weekend) and didn't get fussy until we were in the car on the way home to get her fed and ready for bed.   Both Calin and Clara did great in the hotel room with all of us together.  Calin slept most of the night in the pack and play we got from the hotel and Clara only woke up twice to eat and then went back to sleep.  We put her on the pull out couch bed.   They did wake up early, but both did good for being in a new environment and away from home.

This little boy went right to sleep he was so tired!

The next morning, we got up early, played in the hotel room for a little bit, then went down for breakfast.  We hung out and ate down there as many of the family came down to eat as well.

After breakfast I left Calin and Clara with Robby and my mom and went with Becca, Allie, Summer, and Erich to do our nails.  Erich Summer and I got pedicures, and Becca and Allie got manicures.

Getting nails done!

After that I went back to a very hungry Clara (nails had taken longer than I thought).  I got her fed and I showered quick before leaving again to go with the girls to get our hair done.  Robby went with the boys to get lunch and then they headed back to the hotel to try and get Calin to take a nap.  Thankfully he did go down.  I raced to get Clara fed and ready and finish getting myself ready while Robby also got ready and had a little nap for himself.

When it was time to head to the temple we miraculously carried sleeping Calin to the car and got him in the car and buckled and he stayed asleep!! It was a miracle! We got to the temple and Robby dropped me off and went to park and watch the now both sleeping kids.  We couldn't find a babysitter so Robby stayed out with the kids while I went into the temple for the wedding.  It was a beautiful sealing and we are so happy for Josef and Summer!

After the sealing, we came out and Robby had gotten Calin all dressed up in the car since he had not gotten ready yet.  He looked SO handsome!  When did this little baby boy grow up!!?? We took a few pictures before welcoming the couple and then took more pictures with their photographer.  Calin was enjoying running around with Robby and Grandma.  Clara got passed around as Robby and I had to jump in to be in different pictures.  Once finishing pictures at the temple, we raced to the country club where the reception was so I could feed Clara before needing to be in more pictures.

There was a high school prom in another room at the country club.
Calin popped in for a little dancing as we were leaving to head back to the hotel.

We headed back to the hotel and got the kids ready for bed after the long exhausting day.  They had another great night considering being away from home and everything else.  The next morning we had another breakfast at the hotel and then played with toys and read stories with family before having to head home again.  We were sad to leave everyone after begin all together for the weekend!

The check in at the Sacramento airport was a little more hectic than at St. George, Clara had a blowout right as we went through security.  The security is always crazy as you "strip down" and unload all your belongings.  Throw two kids into that and it was just a little crazy!   Thankfully though we had Becca, Allie, and Erich with us to help and it all went fine.  They were a great help and were especially good to trade seats around with us so that we were not at the back of the plane and were able to catch our connection in Salt Lake to get to St. George.

The plane ride went well.  Calin had a nap from Sacramento to Salt Lake which was great cause he was really cranky before we got on the plane.  The plane was full of some basketball team. They were all taking up more than their space since their all so tall and were all cranking their tunes on their beats headphones.  It was not the most pleasant plane ride.

Once to Salt Lake we raced to our next gate and made it just as they were announcing our names wondering where we were.  We made it though, changed Clara's diaper, and got on our last leg of the flight.  Both kids did good again and we all made it back to St. George in one piece! It was a great weekend and we were so glad we were able to celebrate with Josef and Summer!  I was nervous about going with Clara only six weeks old, but it went much better than I expected.  We had great help from all our family and it made the weekend much easier to have all that help around!

Some cute pictures Becca took of our cute kids!  We love Aunt Becca!

Congrats Josef and Summer!
